floating AIR

My other, latest work is entitled floating AIR made also of marble and it is a compressed air-gun hanging on a spiral tube. The hand-carved and later on drilled through nearly operable marble “tool” can be connected to a real air pipe. By placing the artwork in an installative environment a timed compressor can blow air through the gun which makes the blue tube to perform spring movement. The aluminium tool, which originally originates from the industry, however this time it has been carved out from a lot higher density Carrara marble is still able to carry the ambivalence of the lightness of floating and weightlessness. At the same time the position of the given object also refers to dissonant human situations. I was trying to go round the matter of aimlessness related to the total obsoleteness of work and vulnerability by the empty gun without the presence of an operator.
